Summer Classes 2015- Town of Fountain Hills

The town is offering a variety of classes this summer for youth and adults. Take a look and reserve your spot now! We have provided information at the bottom of this post on how to register. Have a great summer!

Coed Softball

Skills Training

Our skill building, weekly soccer program will engage your kids in the world of soccer by presenting dribbling, kicking, throw-ins, headers, goalie skills, age permitting: scrimmaging and more activities that are fun WHILE learning.  Please bring a soccer ball with your child’s name on it and water bottle and lots of energy!  No make up classes.

2-Sport Preview Multi-Sports Class

Introduce your player to two core sports of soccer and baseball (in that order).  This class will offer you the flexibility to see which sport your child likes best and just have fun.  Parental assistance may be required for certain skill tasks.  We begin with soccer so please bring a size #3 or #4 soccer ball, then baseball, bring a baseball batting tee.  We supply the rest of the equipment and the fun skill building games and activities.  No make up classes.

Sand Volleyball

This clinic will cover both individual and team sand volleyball skills such as passing, setting, attacking, blocking and serving as well as team offense and defense.  Activities will include individual and small group drills as well as team scrimmages and tournament play within the participants.

Lunchtime Yoga

Take a needed break from your busy day with a lunchtime yoga class!  Yoga is the perfect way to rebalance your body and mind in the middle of your workday.  This class will incorporate some specific sequences designed to help restore the body from sitting at a desk all day.  Leave class refreshed with a clearer mind to take on the rest of your afternoon!  All experience levels welcome.  Equipment: Yoga mat and water required.  Yoga blocks, small towel or strap are encouraged.  Location:  Community Center

Evening Yoga

Experience the benefits of the ancient practice of yoga to invigorate both the mind and body.  The class uses a combination of breath work, poses and stretches to build strength, improve balance and calm the mind. The noncompetitive atmosphere fosters a body and mind awareness that leaves the student feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Yoga is known to improve flexibility, prevent injuries and provide an overall feeling of well being. All experience levels welcome.  Equipment: Yoga mat and water required.  Yoga blocks, small towel or strap are encouraged. Location:  Community Center

Camp Colley Overnight Youth Camp

What summer is complete without a trip to summer camp? This year, the Town of Fountain Hills Community Services Department is partnering with Camp Colley to present an unforgettable summer camp experience for kids ages 8 to 17 years. This three day, two night camp is designed to teach riding skills, horse care, and outdoor recreational skills. Life skills such as responsibility, empathy, and communication are emphasized in each activity. Campers ride a minimum of two hours per day in a series of riding lessons, games, and trail rides. Camp Colley partners with Hunkapi Horse Programs to provide this unique equine adventure. Campers will have additional activities including, but not limited to, hiking, nature education, mountain biking, archery, and arts and crafts. Campers depart from Fountain Park (Splash Pad area) at 8:30 a.m. on Monday and return at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. A detailed itinerary and required waivers will be made available upon registration.

Space is limited for this camp, so early registration is highly encouraged.

Camp Activities include:
 Archery
 Mountain biking
 Field trips to the local fire tower
 Swimming
 Hiking
 Arts and crafts
 Trail riding
 Evening camp fires

Overnight camp includes:
 Transportation to and from camp
 Daily riding
 1:4 Staff to Camper Ratio
 All meals and snacks
 Tents, sleeping bags, and sleeping pads
